Alacrity Graduate Team, Codeherent in Six-Figure Funding Round

A graduate team from the Alacrity Foundation, Codeherent have received £400,000 in follow-on investment from Wesley Clover, Development Bank of Wales, Waterloo Foundation and angel investors.

Headquartered in the Wesley Clover Innovation Centre in Newport, South Wales, Codeherent successfully graduated from the Alacrity entrepreneurship programme and received seed investment in 2016 to develop their unique software platform to enable firms to manage their cloud infrastructure.

Codeherent is a Visual Development Environment for Terraform that enables businesses to visualise, create, and modify Infrastructure as Code in a safe and predictable way.

Codeherent’s platform can reduce cloud costs, accelerate adoption, and improve IT security and this latest investment will accelerate their development of cloud visualisation and editing features.

The recent global slow-down due to the Coronavirus has enabled a huge growth in demand for cloud-based applications such as video conferencing clients. This is predicted to grow further this year by 17%

Codeherent’s experience highlights that only a small amount of businesses understand how to maximise the potential of the cloud. This is due to the lack of shared resources and knowledge about infrastructure-as-code, which manages computer infrastructure through software tools automatically.

With a heightened emphasis on the criticality of excellent technology infrastructure, all businesses should be able to maximise the benefits of Infrastructure as Code to speed up software delivery, reduce costs, and improve product quality. Whether it is because of a skills gap, a lack of knowledge, or an inability to deploy it at scale, Infrastructure as Code needs to be made more accessible to a wider cross-section of the business community. We’re excited to launch our platform into that space.
Paul Sheehan, Managing Director of Codeherent

Dr Carl Griffiths, Development Bank of Wales’ technology seed fund manager added:

Our seed equity investments are helping to unlock the potential in exciting technology companies, with high-growth potential. At a time when businesses across the globe are digitally transforming to evolve and compete, Codeherent is providing an advanced cloud organisation and infrastructure solution. This equity investment marks our confidence in Codeherent’s ability to make a significant difference to the business world as it adopts new ways of working.

We look forward to the future of Codeherent with a particular interest and congratulate them on their recent investment round.
